From the trailblazers who fought for the right to vote to the innovators revolutionizing science, business, and the arts; Women's History Month is a time to honor their achievements and reaffirm our commitment to the work that remains.

Commissioner Briones invites you to celebrate these remarkable women at a community center near you. Join us as we uplift their stories, learn from their experiences, and inspire the next generation of leaders.

National Women's History Museum Virtual Tour

Take a virtual tour of the National Women’s History Museum and explore remarkable accomplishments by women, from medaling at the Olympics to making scientific breakthroughs.


Honoring Women's History Month Movie

Come watch "Hidden Figures,” a film highlighting three historic Black women who helped America win the space race.


Honoring Women's Achievements

  • Glazier Senior Education Center

Join the Wise Women of Glazier, a group of women who promote women's empowerment, for a captivating panel discussion as they celebrate the contributions of women throughout history.


Tea and Talk: Empowering Women Together

Savor a selection of teas and light refreshments while engaging in meaningful discussions with women from all walks of life. This event features a dynamic speaker and a panel of inspiring women leaders, offering insights on leadership, resilience, and the importance of community.


Women's Expo and Symposium – EmpowerHer: "Her Power, Her Potential, Our Future."

This is a must-attend event for women entrepreneurs, aspiring business owners, and those looking to take their careers to the next level. The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. April Day, President of the Women's Business Enterprise Alliance, along with free counseling sessions, engaging workshops, networking opportunities, and a variety of vendors to explore. Registration is recommended.


Women's History: Documentary & Discussion

Come watch How It Feels to Be Free, a documentary that tells the inspiring story of how six iconic Black entertainers - Lena Horne, Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone, Diahann Carroll, Cicely Tyson and Pam Grier - challenged an entertainment industry deeply complicit in perpetuating racist stereotypes and transformed themselves and their audiences in the process. After the documentary, we will have a group discussion in which we learn from one another and discuss women's rights, intersectional feminism, and current events.


Art Lecture: Exciting World of Women

Learn about the role of women in art, featuring a speaker from The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Explore works from the Museum's collection, highlighting women as both subjects and creators in the art world.
