Community Food Resources

Commissioner Lesley Briones cares deeply about assisting residents facing food insecurity. Precinct 4 has several partnerships with local nonprofits dedicated to getting fresh food in the hands of residents who need it most.

Second Servings

The Second Servings program distributes rescued food from restaurants, hotels, and grocers to support families in need.

La Tiendita Gulfton

La Tiendita offers food assistance, nutrition education, social services, counseling, and resource navigation to families
and neighbors throughout the Gulfton/Sharpstown region.

Registration by appointment only on Monday-Friday | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Common Market

Common Market offers farm-fresh produce to residents of Harris County to address food insecurity.

Pre-registration is required.

Feed the Fridge

Located at the Freed Community Center, the Feed the Fridge program provides visitors with free donated meals from local restaurants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Produce Distribution with Brighter Bites

Brighter Bites Houston provides fresh, seasonal produce at no cost to families during the summer months at the Burnett Bayland and Tracy Gee Community Centers.

Kids Cafe with Houston Food Bank

The Kids Cafe program provides children aged 18 and younger with free, nutritious meals throughout the summer. Meals are available at the Bayland, Burnett Bayland, Freed, Hockley, Radack, Tracy Gee, and Weekley Community Centers.
