Burnett Bayland Park - Transformation Project

After deep community engagement and partnership, we’re excited to break ground on the new vision for Burnett Bayland Park. Over the next year, Harris County Precinct 4 will transform Burnett Bayland Park into a signature park for the region. Our team is hard at work reimagining the park with new and upgraded amenities for children, families, athletes, and nature lovers to enjoy. This reinvention will bring a beautiful and welcoming destination that will serve the Gulfton and broader community for generations to come. We look forward to celebrating this incredible new space with you soon!

What will be closed, what will remain open?

The Phase 1 area will be closed during the first phase of the transformation.

What happens to the skatepark?

The skatepark will be closed during Phase 1 construction. The area surrounding the skatepark will receive significant upgrades, and to ensure the safety of all visitors the skatepark will have to be closed during the initial phase of construction.

What about the soccer fields?

We know these fields are central to the community. During the demolition plan, three of the six soccer fields will be decommissioned. To ensure uninterrupted community play and maintain full youth access to soccer fields during the implementation of the Burnett Bayland Park Master Plan, we will build a temporary youth   soccer field (195 ft x135 ft) on the current baseball field. (map) The surface will be regraded, treated, and leveled for soccer play.
Temporary Soccer Field Completion: June 2025

What about the baseball field?
