Commissioner Lesley Briones joined by Visa, Street Soccer USA, Bank of America, and Precinct4Forward hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Visa Street Soccer Park ahead of the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ on Tuesday, May 12.
The park has two new mini soccer pitches and a learning center in the heart of Gulfton, a vibrant and diverse community known as the “Ellis Island of Texas.” Nearly 12,000 kids in the neighborhood will be able to play soccer at the mini pitches or take free classes on mentorship, financial literacy, and other workshops hosted by Houston reVision.
This Visa Street Soccer Park is a part of Commissioner Briones’ commitment to delivering community-centered infrastructure that expands access and opportunity.
