Commissioner Lesley Briones expands access to free health resources to kickstart the New Year

Prioritizing your health and wellness is a commitment worth making all year long. That’s why Commissioner Lesley Briones has expanded access to free health and fitness resources for residents of all ages to enjoy.

From dental clinics to Pilates, take advantage of the many classes, clinics, and other resources that Precinct 4 offers across our parks and community centers.

Rise and Walk

  • Hockley Community Center

  • Year-round | Weekdays, 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.

Start your day with a 30-minute outdoor walk surrounded by community.

Pilates

  • Mary Jo Peckham Aquatic and Fitness Center

  • Year-round | Mondays and Fridays, 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.

Improve your flexibility, build strength, and improve your balance with a Pilates class. A yoga mat is required, and participants must be 12 years or older.

Senior Boot Camp

  • Glazier Senior Education Center

  • Year-round | Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 9 – 10 a.m.

Build strength, improve balance, and boost endurance with experienced instructors. Each session combines low-impact cardio, resistance training, and functional movement.

Strength Training

  • Tracy Gee Community Center

  • Year-round | Mondays, 9:00 – 9:45 a.m.

Energize your body with a certified instructor during a dynamic class that builds strength, boosts flexibility, and adapts to all fitness levels, ages, and health goals.

Mom and Baby Mobile Health Center

  • Bayland Community Center

  • Year-round | Mondays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Receive free services such as well women exams, health screenings, prenatal care, postnatal care, and more provided by Memorial Hermann Health.

Children’s Immunizations

  • Radack Community Center

  • Year-round | Tuesdays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Harris Health is providing free immunizations for children under the age of 18 who are uninsured, on Medicaid, or are otherwise eligible.

Mobile Dental Health Unit

  • Bayland Community Center

  • Year-round | Thursdays, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Receive free dental screenings, limited treatment (hygiene and restorative), oral health education, and clinical referrals from the Harris County Public Health Mobile Dental Unit.

Vision Health Screenings

  • Burnett Bayland Community Center

  • Monday, February 16 | 2 – 4 p.m.

The University of Houston’s Optometry School is providing vision screenings for adults and children five years and older.

Nature Yoga

  • Kleb Woods Nature Center

  • Saturday, February 21 | 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy an outdoor yoga class and pour into your physical and mental health. Please bring your own yoga mat.

Pantry to Plate

  • Weekley Community Center

  • Tuesday, February 24 | 11 a.m. – Noon

Build skills to create healthy meals from everyday pantry staples with guidance from Memorial Hermann nutrition educators.

Wellness Exams

  • Bayland Community Center

  • Wednesday, February 25 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Harris County Public Health will provide wellness exams by appointment. Wellness exams may include vaccines, mental health services, and screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, HIV, pregnancy, pap smears, breast cancer, and cervical cancer.
